President ISCoS
The eLearning project of ISCoS is born out of the Society’s objectives to advise, encourage, guide and support the efforts of those responsible for the care of patients with spinal cord injury and to support the efforts of those responsible for the education and training of medical professionals and professionals allied to nursing. The aim is to improve their knowledge and skills to benefit individuals with spinal cord injury.

The eLearning project takes advantage of modern technology to provide online educational material in the form of word documents, diagrams, slides and video teaching material to support health care professionals looking after spinal cord injured people outside dedicated comprehensive spinal cord services. The project aims to provide resource material for people in all countries of the world and therefore has examples of different ways of providing treatment that will enable health care professionals to choose the one that is most appropriate to their circumstances as well as the circumstances and resources of the patients and their families.

It is anticipated that the project will expand and be updated to maintain and increase its relevance over time.

Many professionals with spinal cord injury experience have contributed their personal skills and expertise as well as collected information from spinal cord literature to create an updated, flexible and practical series of modules covering all aspects of spinal cord injury - from prevention through acute management to rehabilitation, reintegration into the community and long term follow-up.

I commend the project to all those who wish to enlarge their knowledge base and are willing to draw on the experience of others to improve the lives of people with spinal cord injury.
